How do we fix this mess?

Santa Barbara County is $40 million in the hole. Pensions and benefits for the union led public employees are bankrupting the County. Supervisor Centeno hit the nail on the head when he said we need to get rid of these union contracts but I bet there will be plenty of fight in the government unions to keep their high salaries and benefits. Will we taxpayers see the day when we exist to pay government employees or will it go back to the notion of public employees serving the citizens? What are your ideas on fixing the budget?
